This video has been produced to honor a dear friend of us, David Fraher.
The song in the video was not part of our repertoire, We didn't think to perform it and we even didn't think to share it online.
David and his team liked it and shared it on Arts Midwest youtube channel.
Surprisingly the video turned to be our second most viewed video.
It reached over a half million views and got lots of nice comments.
So perhaps it is the time for this video to be shared on our youtube channel.
An old Israeli song performed by the pioneering youth movements that spread during the 1940s and 1950s.( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAP5k6_z-dg)
lyrics from Jewish sources. - The book of Samuel 1, composers: Matityahu Shalem, Eliyahu Gamliel.
Thanks to Avri Borochov who made this song fresh, cool and attractive once again.

King David -
David is described in the Hebrew Bible as the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah. In the biblical narrative, David is a young shepherd who first gains fame as a musician and later by killing Goliath.
Historians of the Ancient Near East agree that David probably existed around 1000 BCE, but that there is little that can be said about him as a historical figure.
David is richly represented in post-biblical Jewish written and oral tradition, and is discussed in the New Testament. Early Christians interpreted the life of Jesus in light of the references to the Messiah and to David; Jesus is described as being descended from David. David is discussed in the Quran and figures in Islamic oral and written tradition as well. The biblical character of David has inspired many interpretations in fictional literature over centuries.

Shalom family! Depending upon your calendar, the Feast of Trumpets is upon us today!
‘And in the seventh new moon, on the first day of the new moon, you have a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work, it is Yom Teru'ah for you. (Num 29:1 TS2009)
"terû‛âh
ter-oo-aw'
From H7321; clamor, that is, acclamation of joy or a battle cry; especially clangor of trumpets, as an alarum: - alarm, blow (-ing) (of, the) (trumpets), joy, jubilee, loud noise, rejoicing, shout (-ing), (high, joyful) sound (-ing)."
This day is one of the seven great appointed times of the God of Israel as written in Leviticus 23, eight if you include the Sabbath. Shofars were used as a way of signaling in the army or calling an assemble, or as an act of worship. And they were used to warn the people of coming danger.
A Recap of the Feasts of God
We know that Passover commemorates the saving of Israel from Egypt when all who were firstborn and did not have the lamb's blood on the door were visited by an angel of death. We know that the Feast of Unleavened Bread commemorates when Israel was fleeing Egypt and they had no time to leaven their bread. The festival of First Fruits appears to be a festival of thankfulness for the first fruits of the crops for the year. These first three of the spring feasts were also prophetic time points that the Mashiach would fulfill. Yeshua died on Passover, was buried for Unleavened Bread, and rose from the dead on the Festival of First Fruits, becoming as the New Testament would describe as the "First Fruits of the dead". An outpouring of Yah's Spirit like never before would be witnessed on Shavuot as told in the Book of Acts where Yah's Spirit came and resided with His people. Thus Pentacost or Shavuot has also received a prophetic fulfillment.
Which brings us to the Fall Feasts...
The fall feasts of Yom Teruah or Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Sukkot or Feast of Tabernacles appear to be the coming work of the Mashiach when He takes care of the unfinished business on earth, namely the punishment of the wicked and the establishment of His righteous reign on earth.
Thus we conclude....
that the Feast of Trumpets as the first of the fall feasts is a day for watchfulness. The shofar is meant to get your attention, to warn you, to call you to action. So be vigilant this season, keep in constant prayer, don't be caught off guard. The God of Israel does things according to His calendar and not ours.

William Cowper authored this hymn in the 1700s. A prolific poet, he would write a poem for John Newton in support of the Abolitionists. This poem would later be quoted by Martin Luther King Jr. We add some ethnic sounding instruments including our ever beloved Native American flute to this amazing song.
