Hello dear people!

I prepared a simple more “traditional” sounding track for today that I have called “The Salmon Run”. I used to live in Alaska and the time of year that the millions of salmon would come to lay their eggs was a big deal to the natives there. It meant a harvest that would feed their families for the year.

In our society, we're taught that in order to be successful, we must be busy. Well, let's chat about that concept for a few.

Please forgive the hiccup around 5 minutes. The mail lady came and I didn't want to discuss something so emotional in that moment, making her uncomfortable so I paused. Somehow, the frame got added to the first half in editing but, since I'm new to editing videos, I'm not sure how I did that.

I have many conversations with my kids that wind up being particularly enlightening or encouraging. Sometimes, it really takes the perspective of a child to put things back in place. This was one of many that I chose to further reflect on.

Shalom family! Depending upon your calendar, the Feast of Trumpets is upon us today!

‘And in the seventh new moon, on the first day of the new moon, you have a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work, it is Yom Teru'ah for you. (Num 29:1 TS2009)

"terû‛âh

ter-oo-aw'

From H7321; clamor, that is, acclamation of joy or a battle cry; especially clangor of trumpets, as an alarum: - alarm, blow (-ing) (of, the) (trumpets), joy, jubilee, loud noise, rejoicing, shout (-ing), (high, joyful) sound (-ing)."

This day is one of the seven great appointed times of the God of Israel as written in Leviticus 23, eight if you include the Sabbath. Shofars were used as a way of signaling in the army or calling an assemble, or as an act of worship. And they were used to warn the people of coming danger.

A Recap of the Feasts of God

We know that Passover commemorates the saving of Israel from Egypt when all who were firstborn and did not have the lamb's blood on the door were visited by an angel of death. We know that the Feast of Unleavened Bread commemorates when Israel was fleeing Egypt and they had no time to leaven their bread. The festival of First Fruits appears to be a festival of thankfulness for the first fruits of the crops for the year. These first three of the spring feasts were also prophetic time points that the Mashiach would fulfill. Yeshua died on Passover, was buried for Unleavened Bread, and rose from the dead on the Festival of First Fruits, becoming as the New Testament would describe as the "First Fruits of the dead". An outpouring of Yah's Spirit like never before would be witnessed on Shavuot as told in the Book of Acts where Yah's Spirit came and resided with His people. Thus Pentacost or Shavuot has also received a prophetic fulfillment.

Which brings us to the Fall Feasts...

The fall feasts of Yom Teruah or Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Sukkot or Feast of Tabernacles appear to be the coming work of the Mashiach when He takes care of the unfinished business on earth, namely the punishment of the wicked and the establishment of His righteous reign on earth.

Thus we conclude....

that the Feast of Trumpets as the first of the fall feasts is a day for watchfulness. The shofar is meant to get your attention, to warn you, to call you to action. So be vigilant this season, keep in constant prayer, don't be caught off guard. The God of Israel does things according to His calendar and not ours.

Perhaps the most well known song of faith in the world is "Amazing Grace". The mournful and pretty sound of the Native American flute goes hand in hand with the deep meaning and history of this song and the man who wrote it.

An original short praise song called "Maker of Heaven and Earth". As usual David decided on a set of chords that seemed "right". Then we begin to add instruments and begin to build. The cool thing about this is that no one knows what the finished product will sound like. It's like how Yah uses each of us for our purpose and task with each of us unknowing of the grand purpose being enacted.

After sitting down to record this, I felt winter was the image that was being created. At least it felt that way. A little lonely, cold, but beautiful. Whatever awaits us this season, we must rely fully upon our maker to provide for our needs.

⁣The more we play with old hymns, the more apparent it becomes that the Irish/Celtic hymns are some of the most fun tunes to play with on the Native American flute. This time around we broke out an Irish tin whistle to take the lead.
