This week's Torah portion was about the garments of the High Priest. Our High Priest (Yeshua, a priest forever. after the order of Melech Tzeddik) wears the same garments. And not only is He our High Priest, He is also our Great Shepherd. What do shepherds do? They protect the flock.

During Yeshua's day, the religious leaders, and society for that matter, meant one thing when they said an eye for an eye. However, Yeshua's Torah taught something different when it is read in context. It refers to specific situations. In today's society still that phrase is used out of context. If it was used in context there is no way for that phrase to leave the world blind, as they say: but even if it did leave the world blind, blind the world ought to be as God's law is good. This video explores that phrase and answers those questions.
This video explains what we teach about tithing; it reviews the origin of tithing before the establishment of the Old Covenant, explains the purpose of tithing and shows that tithing is still necessary and expected for Christians today.

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin."

Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives? For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.

Related passages from the Old Testament (re the High Priest and levirate marriage) as well as the Greek word for a woman "which has a husband" (KJV) in Romans 7:2 shed significant light on Paul's meaning in this passage. Here's a hint: It does not say that the Law dies or that the commandments in the Law are not for all Christians today. It's about authority relationships, not the applicability of Torah.

Romans 8:18-23 ESV
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.
20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope
21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.
23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
Several places in Scripture talk about how Creation longs for the day when God judges the world and everything is restored. Paul and John tell us that Creation won't just be restored, but will be resurrected and glorified just like us. The end is a mirror image of the beginning, but bigger and better!
