BGMC MESSIANIC LESSON 928 are you ready for captivity

SYNOPSIS: There are pattern in the bible that we need to study. When we see the people in total disregard for the laws of YEHOVAH there is a big price to pay. We are told by the prophet Hoshea that YEHOVAH said “HE will forget their children”. So many people say how does a loving GOD hurt the children? The question should be, how do supposed loving parents not teach the word of GOD to their children? Has America allowed satan to run free in this land? Have we bowed to satan? What does it say to YEHOVAH when the largest gathering of satan worshippers ever are gathering for a convention on our land? Is there a price to pay?

HASHABBAT LESSON: LEARN THE PATTERN. 2 Kefa (Peter) 3:9 it is not his purpose that anyone should be destroyed. D’varim (Deut) 30:11-20 if you follow these you will not perish. Hoshea (Hos) 4:1-14 the reason for captivity. B’resheet (Gen) 2:15-17 disobedience to the oral law. B’resheet (Gen) 6:4-7 chastisement of the N’filim & the Gentiles. B’resheet (Gen) 7:21-23 everything that had breath died. B’resheet (Gen) 15:13-14 Jew and Gentile get punished. Revelation 2:18-23 and I will strike her children dead! Yechezk'el (Eze) 12:1-16 pay attention. Yechezk'el (Eze) 12:21-28 there is a time when YEHOVAH says now is the time.
Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean.
Romans 14:13-14 ESV
Errant translations of this passage have created a lot of confusion and bad doctrine. Paul was not saying that God's rules about what is clean and unclean had changed or didn't matter. He was talking about man-made rules for what is "common", not God's rules. Akathartos vs Koinos.

Chanukkah and Christmas collide!
Channukkah and XMAS collide
1st night of chanukkah 12/25. The contrast is stark. But with the real history of Chanukkah from the Apocryphal book of 1 Mac.
I encourage you to read the first four chapters of 1 Mac. To get that, look at the Brenton translation of the Old Testament.
Matthew 24:15-20 is a direct reference to the Maccabean revolt and Channukkah.
The abomination of desolation had already been set up once by the Greeks. Their flight was indeed in winter. And they refused to fight the first Sabbath of the revolt due to their obedience to Torah and they lost.
The crux of this was compromise and mixing. The first time the Greeks came to Judea, they were welcomed. Many of the Israelites mixed Greek customs with Torah and compromised themselves. The Greeks came back after a battle with Egypt and compromise was no longer an option. They forced Israel to forsake the commandments. No more Sabbath, no more circumcision, no more festival days, temple defiled, and they had to eat pork. Or die. And they had to adopt the Greek holidays and culture wholesale, including the sacrificing of pigs and the eating of the same.
This was very bad. Judas Maccabeus couldn’t take it and started a revolt, ultimately pushing the Greeks out and restoring Torah to judea.
How does this align with Christmas? XMAS is a non-biblical observation where people partake in rituals derived from pagan religions and dine on pork. But they do it in the name of God. This is impossible if we understand Matthew 24 to be warning us against these abominations.
I’ll be talking about Chanukka on Friday night, December 20, on a friend’s study group if you want to learn the details about this commemoration. However, don’t lose the irony that the Greeks forced believers into pagan customs while modern Christianity voluntarily partakes. Hopefully more folks will read their bibles and history and come to the realization that the worship of Yahweh is easy if we just relent and to it the way His Son showed us. Have a blessed week!

Tov Rose joined the Common Sense Bible Study community for a live conversation about God's Fall Feasts.
All of God's appointed times are profound illustrations of his plan of redemption over the millennia. The Sabbath, the Spring feasts, and the Fall feasts are pictures of how God wants to relate to us as well as prophetic of how his plan will play out in history. Every one of them look both forward and backward at God's interventions in history.
We talked about Yom Teruah (aka Rosh Hashanah), Yom Kippur, and Sukkot among many other topics.
Tov is the founder of the New Messianic Version (NMV) Bible Project & Foundation and has authored hundreds of articles and over twenty books including, The New Messianic Version Bible (available through the YouVersion Bible App, Bible.com, and Amazon). When and How to Interpret Scripture
The bible is written in a style that us westerners aren’t familiar with. By learning a couple things about how scripture was written and expected to be received, we can glean a lot more truth even in our native languages. This message touches on the way first century believers would have interpreted the Old Testament and subsequently wrote the New. These tips will help you understand the scriptures closer to their original intent, when things are supposed to be taken literally, and when they aren’t. These are very big helps when trying to understand prophecy and the Apostle Paul.
Romans 16:17-18 ESV
17 I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.
18 For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.
Religious people of all denominations are too quick to either label every different opinion as heresy or to quit one church for another as soon as the pastor says something they don't like. We really need better coping skills.
I have been thinking of common disagreements in three categories: Discordant, Divergent, and Academic. I've also been thinking of people who unintentionally create division in three categories: Sensationalists, Closed-minded, and Obsessive.

This video has been produced to honor a dear friend of us, David Fraher.
The song in the video was not part of our repertoire, We didn't think to perform it and we even didn't think to share it online.
David and his team liked it and shared it on Arts Midwest youtube channel.
Surprisingly the video turned to be our second most viewed video.
It reached over a half million views and got lots of nice comments.
So perhaps it is the time for this video to be shared on our youtube channel.
An old Israeli song performed by the pioneering youth movements that spread during the 1940s and 1950s.( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAP5k6_z-dg)
lyrics from Jewish sources. - The book of Samuel 1, composers: Matityahu Shalem, Eliyahu Gamliel.
Thanks to Avri Borochov who made this song fresh, cool and attractive once again.

King David -
David is described in the Hebrew Bible as the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah. In the biblical narrative, David is a young shepherd who first gains fame as a musician and later by killing Goliath.
Historians of the Ancient Near East agree that David probably existed around 1000 BCE, but that there is little that can be said about him as a historical figure.
David is richly represented in post-biblical Jewish written and oral tradition, and is discussed in the New Testament. Early Christians interpreted the life of Jesus in light of the references to the Messiah and to David; Jesus is described as being descended from David. David is discussed in the Quran and figures in Islamic oral and written tradition as well. The biblical character of David has inspired many interpretations in fictional literature over centuries.
After sitting down to record this, I felt winter was the image that was being created. At least it felt that way. A little lonely, cold, but beautiful. Whatever awaits us this season, we must rely fully upon our maker to provide for our needs.

Weighing the Evidence: avoiding key pitfalls. The second message in the series about learning real Christianity from scratch.
This message begins with a recap of the first message titled Learn Real Christianity from Scratch. If you haven't started with that one, I highly recommend it. It's available here https://firstcenturychristiani....ty.net/learn-real-ch Key information is to begin your studies with the NASB95 version of the bible. This translation is literal, readable, and remarkably true to the original texts while removing as much doctrine as humanly possible. You can read about this translation at this link https://www.blueletterbible.or....g/bibles/preface-to-
Learning when the books of the bible were written, by whom, and what else was going on in the world at the time gives you great insight. This context helps us to learn the scriptures the way they were intended to be read. We should also avoid reading the chapters and verses. This is remarkably important because those were added over 1000 years after the New Testament authors died. The people who added the chapters and verses are just as removed from the first century Christian or Judean culture as we are today. Weighing the evidence of scripture requires us to consume scripture within the culture it was written (as much as possible).
Weighing the Evidence
A key pitfall to avoid is falling into the trap of creeds. Christianity today is a system of memorized doctrines. The folks who do this don't even realize it because it's taught from the moment a person begins to talk. Those of us raised in mainstream Christianity are taught it's biblical. But the way we learn this is to memorize a doctrine with proof texts rather than reading the scriptures and arriving at conclusions. These messages about learning real Christianity from scratch are intended to teach people who have never been indoctrinated how to avoid that trap. Frankly, if the doctrine is true, you'll get there soon enough!
Understand this path we are on is a long path. It's a journey. You are not saved by doctrine and you are not in a rush. Imagine if you could have another lifetime with your earthly father. Would you rush through it like you did the first time, making immature mistakes, or would you slow down and savor your time with him? Obviously it's the latter. Being born again is our chance to learn about our heavenly Father. We need to come at this like children, but children who know we have a new lease on life. Take your time on this journey and weigh the evidence along the way.
This message is available in print at https://firstcenturychristiani....ty.net/weighing-the-
Yeshua said to go and make disciples from all the nations.
Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
But if we're going to make disciples of other people, then we need to be good disciples ourselves. How are we supposed to teach others how to live, when we ourselves live as if we didn't care about our own lives?
There are tens of thousands of books about self-improvement. There's nothing wrong with working to become a better person, but the world's approach is fatally flawed by its focus on ME.
Make more money! Become famous! Be the boss! Get a better job!
None of which is necessarily bad in itself, if it serves a good purpose, but what is your purpose? Are you trying to be a better you and get that promotion because you think you'll feel better about yourself? That's probably never going to work.
Our goal--the ultimate self-improvement plan--is to become more like Yeshua. This is the plan that God has for us! See Romans 8:29.
In this video, Sean Esposito joined Common Sense Bible study to talk about a more Biblical approach to self-improvement.
Sean is a former atheist turned minister. He has worked with Tom Bradford at Seed of Abraham Ministries and currently teaches faith and character development through Simplicity Faith (SimplicityFaith.com).
He says, "My encouragement is very, very simple: character development into the image of God and Messiah--stirring people to realize their role in self-disciplined intentional character development unto the ways of God, for which we were all created."
