The real meaning of the phrase "Lord's day" unlocks prophecy like you never though possible!

The Lord’s Day
Slide 1 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea." (Rev 1:10-11)
A misnomer in Christian parlance is that this is referring to Sunday, aka the first day of the week with the reference to the Lord’s day. There actually isn’t anything tying this phrase to Sunday except the traditions of men. In fact, I think this is the only place in the bible where the phrase “Lord’s day” appears. Sunday is not what is meant by the term Lord’s day. In fact, it’s referring to a day an annual day, not a weekly one. Those of us who have returned to original, first century Christianity know exactly what day this is speaking of and it’s an annual observance.
The phrase “sound of the trumpet” is the key to understanding the verse. John was in the Spirit on the Day of Trumpets, Yom Teruah in Hebrew. He was still keeping the festival days and it was, and is, widely understood that the “great and terrible day of the Lord” is the first day of the 7th month on the Hebrew calendar.
Slide 2 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. 'You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD.'" (Lev 23:23-25)
Here's the commandment and you can make the association rather easily. This is also called the “day no man knows” because it’s the only holy day we don’t see coming in the Torah. Passover, Atonement, and Sukkot start in the middle of months and Pentecost gets counted out. Yom Teruah, or the Feast of Trumpets, or the Day of the Lord, is the one you have to prepare for and then wait for the sound of the trumpet from the kohen to tell you it has arrived. Think about how Jericho fell. It's actually a prophecy about the end of this age. They march 7 times, the 6 doing nothing. Then on the 7th, they go 7 times and blow trumpets and shout at the end, which destroys the pagan temple. The Messiah is coming back and will usher in the Messianic kingdom, the last 1000 years of this overall age. At the end of that 1000 years, all will be judged, those who’s names are written in the book of life will enter eternity. The Lord’s Day signifies all this and is observed annually, on the first day of the 7th month. John continued to keep Torah his whole life while accepting Yeshua as the Messiah. It only makes sense he would get the vision of the end on the day that represents it.
Slide 5 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Messiah will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. (1Th 4:15-18)
Paul gives us great insight about the return of Yeshua here. The Day of Trumpets is the holy day that foreshadows the return of the Messiah. Many of Yeshua’s parables reference this. “if the owner had known when the thief was coming”, “if the virgins had prepared their oil”, and “those who the master finds doing His will” all come to mind.
For those of us who have learned the Holy Days of Leviticus 23 and observe them, it’s not even in doubt that the Lord’s day in Revelation is Yom Teruah. The sound of the trumpet is our key. John meant to tell us he was in the Spirit on the Day of Trumpets which is also called the great and terrible day of the Lord. And it makes perfect sense that he would be given the most comprehensive vision of the return of the Messiah on the annual holy day that prophesies that very event. The Lord’s Day this year (2024) from sundown October 2 to sundown October 3. We’d love for you to observe it with us!

⁣Yeshua said to go and make disciples from all the nations.

Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

But if we're going to make disciples of other people, then we need to be good disciples ourselves. How are we supposed to teach others how to live, when we ourselves live as if we didn't care about our own lives?

There are tens of thousands of books about self-improvement. There's nothing wrong with working to become a better person, but the world's approach is fatally flawed by its focus on ME.

Make more money! Become famous! Be the boss! Get a better job!

None of which is necessarily bad in itself, if it serves a good purpose, but what is your purpose? Are you trying to be a better you and get that promotion because you think you'll feel better about yourself? That's probably never going to work.

Our goal--the ultimate self-improvement plan--is to become more like Yeshua. This is the plan that God has for us! See Romans 8:29.

⁣The Jews had the Torah for many centuries by the time Yeshua came to inaugurate the New Covenant that had been promised through Jeremiah at the midpoint between himself and Moses. Their familiarity with the Law and their pride at having been chosen above other nations led them to believe the Law was sufficient for all their spiritual needs. The gentiles had no such barrier to overcome, being presented with their guilt and salvation at the same time.

Making Torah (aka the Law) the object of our lives leads inevitably to failure. We ought never to keep God's Law for the sake of the Law itself nor for the sake of the veneer of righteousness that it provides, but for the sake of the Lawgiver who gave us His Torah out of love for us and a desire to see us succeed as children of God and citizens of His Kingdom. Torah is a blessing and a guide to those who keep it out of love for our Creator and Redeemer. It is a curse and an obstacle to those who attempt to keep it pridefully.

This Torah portion should be called "The Promise" from a New Covenant perspective because it is about the promise made to Abraham to make him the father of many nations. We discussed this Torah Portion extensively against the fulfillment of The Promise as articulated in Galatians 3.

⁣And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. Very few native branches of Israel were left on the tree after the first few centuries of Christianity, so that today both the native and the wild branches need to be grafted back into the olive tree of Israel. God has promised that he will restore the genetic descendants of Jacob, and he has the power to do it!

⁣Many historians and archeologists assume that the Bible isn't true and spend their entire careers trying to disprove it. They have persuaded a great many people who don't want to believe. Unfortunately, they've caused a lot of good people who *do* want to believe to doubt the Bible and therefore their own faith. If the Hebrews were never really in Egypt, how can there have been an Exodus? If there was no Exodus, how can there have been a Passover? If there was no Passover, how can we believe anything else in Scripture?

Dr. Douglas Petrovich is not like those archeologists. He has spent the last 16 years proving the Scriptures from the physical evidence left behind by the people who lived and wrote them.

Dr. Petrovich currently serves as adjunct Professor of Biblical History and Exegesis at Brookes Bible College, which is located in St. Louis, Missouri. He teaches remotely and resides in Richmond, Texas. From 2017–2022, he served as full Professor of Biblical History and Exegesis at The Bible Seminary, in Katy, Texas. Professor Petrovich was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. He has lived in California (twice), Illinois, Siberia (Russia), Toronto (Canada), and Texas. He is passionate about pouring his life into those whose lives God has given him the opportunity to influence, whether in the setting of the local church or an academic environment. He is committed to modeling his life after that of the incarnate son of God, Jesus Christ, albeit quite imperfectly. He has been married to his wife, Sherri, since 1991, and they have three adult children.

He has taught over 50 different courses in his teaching career, which includes courses in biblical studies (especially biblical languages and exposition) and in ancient Near Eastern history and archaeology. His Ph.D. includes a major in Syro-Palestinian archaeology, a 1st minor in (Middle and Late) Egyptian language, and a 2nd minor in ancient Near Eastern religions. Professor Petrovich has been an ordained pastor since 1998, having begun as an assistant pastor at a church in Glendale, California. For the majority of his 10 years in Siberia, he served as a church-planting pastor in the city of Berdsk. He has appeared in two documentary films, the more recent being Patterns of Evidence: The Moses Controversy (2019), which features his groundbreaking discovery that connects the world’s oldest alphabetic script with the Israelites’ initial national script. The earlier film in which he appears is entitled Is Genesis History? (2017), which became the most watched documentary film on Netflix during the summer of 2018. In that film, he identifies the correct location for the city of Babel in Genesis 11, as well as its famous tower.

The Christian Truth of Hanukkah
This study shows how Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus the Christ, was referring to something that had already happened in Matthew 24 when He spoke of the Abomination of Desolation. In fact, His words about praying that their flight not be in winter or the Sabbath, that the would have to leave for the hills in haste, and women with children would have a difficult time were all a call-back to something that had already happened once. If you wish to understand what He was really telling them, we must study the Maccabees and the truth of Hanukkah, which contains much needed truth for Christians.

"Vengeance is mine, says the Lord" does not mean we shouldn't pursue justice or restitution, but it does mean that we shouldn't be trying to get even, to make other people hurt just because they made us hurt. Our goal should always be to make the world a better place, not to make everyone equally miserable.
